Privacy

Shelvy reads the books in photos of your shelves. Here is where your photos and details go.

Your photos

Each photo you upload is sent to Google Cloud Vision, which finds the text in it, and to Anthropic's Claude, which reads the titles and authors from the photo and that text. Both are paid services that don't use what Shelvy sends them to train their models. Shelvy keeps your photo, a copy turned the right way up, and the books read from it, on its own server.

Only you can see your shelves, photos and books. Book titles are checked against a copy of Open Library kept on Shelvy's server; nothing is sent to Open Library.

Your email address

It's used to send you sign-in links, and for nothing else. Shelvy sends no newsletters and shares it with nobody.

Deleting things

Deleting a photo or shelf deletes its files and books straight away. You can delete your whole account, and everything in it, from your account page.
